Project Objectives
1. Aquifer - Transboundary Aquifer Management
The main objectives of the Aquifer
project are
- to support the involved national authorities and international institutions with Earth Observation (EO) based technology to better manage internationally shared aquifers
- to strengthen overall and integrated water management practices
- to build-up of an independent service provision capacity to ensure local service delivery after the project cycle to achieve the longer-term goal of service sustainability.
In summary, the project aims at supporting national authorities and international institutions in aquifer management though tailored and GIS-compatible demonstration products and services thereby facilitating their uptake in daily work- operations.
The specific objectives of
the Aquifer project are
- to develop and demonstrate products and services
- and responding effectively to the needs of these users
- based on EO
- to define, implement, validate and deliver
- provide users reliable, accurate, updated and timely information
- cost-effective covering their defined areas of interest
- to ensure a successful use and assessment
- support the integration of the products / services within the user’s traditional working procedures
- provide training
- longer-term sustainability
- prepare for local, independent service provision capacity – service delivery after the project
- involve Local Providers (LPs): attribute to production and delivery work packages
- provide support and training to LPs
2. Airborne AquiferEx Campaign
The overall goal of the AquiferEx campaign lies within the exploration and demonstration of future capabilities of Earth Observation to support water managment. The data is used and evaluated in the frame of the Aquifer project.
- Generate data base of high resolution RADAR & HYPERSPECTRAL data
- Perform polarimetric & polarimetric-interferometric SAR
- Data use / data evaluation
